Envision Artopia Fall 2011: The Runway

Moving forward with my blog, I’ve been interested in showcasing local fashion a bit more through streetstyle shots, featuring some of my favorite boutiques, and highlighting largescale local MN fashion events. There is so much out there in our thriving metropolis, as I like to call it, that I have not been aware of until starting Ruby Girl. This was my first-ever runway show attendance, and it won’t be my last.
Gina Marie Vintage featured looks with simple elegance. Lace, neutral colors, and belled sleeves were a common thread throughout the collection. Some of these items are carried at A Michele Boutique (!!).

This look from Kathryn V really caught my eye. The cut and color of this jacket are spot on. Wish I could have taken it home 🙂

Arwyn Birch’s collection was clearly cohesive and well-executed, but the design taste was just not for me. However, I’m all about these shoes.

Kjurek was actually one of the design flavors that resonated the most with my own self-titled “ladylike glam” taste. The tulle, satin, and velvet that were predominant are luxurious and feminine materials that I tend to swoon over. The fit and styling of the garments was not necessarily pristine, but I saw a few that I would love to slip into myself for an event or two.

This look by Amanda Christine really stood out in the show. With the geometric collaging of two highly contrasting materials in this garment, it is a fresh, modern, streamlined piece.

Wish I could have snagged a better shot of this stunning long, black velvet gown by Caroline Hayden. It fit beautifully and was elegant in every sense of the word. The a-line skirt flowed smoothly and the top’s cut was classic and flattering.
Now for Cliche. I found this see-through maxi layered over an opaque black skirt as on-trend and ultra-wearable.

Stay tuned for streetstyle shots–my favorite looks off the runway and more shots of how I styled my outfit for the event, a Karina Grimaldi black jumpsuit from A Michele Boutique.
