5 Trends for Fall

5 Fall Trends

As hard as it is to think about leaving boating, lazy mornings on the Adirondacks, and gorgeous greenery all around us… fall is just around the corner. All is not lost though because there are definitely some redeeming qualities to the change in seasons. With fall comes not only the gorgeous turning of leaves and apple pie but also a fresh batch of fashion trends. As a style blogger, it’s exciting to see new designs hit the runway and the racks. But some can find the whole shuffling of trends and styles intimidating. So I’ve pulled out 5 of the biggest trends for fall to get you started on your shopping this season.

Boxy Tops: Instead of the traditional fitted tee or button-down shirt, mix it up with a modern-cut boxy top. This silhouette looks great with tapered black pants or a dark denim skinny jean.
Raspberry Hues: This variation on purple is one of the most popular colors for Fall. It pairs well with neutrals but can also be worn with an army green or navy blue for a chic look.
Turtlenecks: The turtleneck is having a major comeback. Keep it now by styling it with another big trend like a jogger pant or edgy pumps.
Chambray: A classic that’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Try a new shade, silhouette, or finish this year.
Culottes: The mind-boggling trend that has swept the fashion scene. A wide-leg cropped pant that has everyone pondering, how do I rock this? Two ideas right off the bat: tuck a white chiffon shirt into the waist or wear with a carmel-toned turtleneck.

Each of these 5 trends is available at the Galleria Edina. The boxy top and turtleneck dress are J. McLaughlin. The chambray shirt is Joie. The raspberry hue skirt is bcbg. And the culottes are Kate Spade. You can get all of these trends in one place, how great is that? Score!

What about you: Which of these trends would you be most likely to try?

Shopping Guide: Weekend at the Lake

Here in the land of 10,000 lakes, we Minnesotans like to spend as many of our weekends on them as possible. I don’t know if my favorite part is relaxing on hammocks or sand volleyball or stargazing on the end of the dock, but right up there is the wardrobe for the weekend. Summer sundresses are an absolute must. I love this coral polka-dotted dress. And the bright yellow bikini is such fun! I also could easily see these beaded tassel bracelets going with just about everything. Because even though we’re by the lakeside, it doesn’t mean that we have to let accessorizing go by the wayside.

Shop my 15 top picks for a weekend at the lake:

chambray tunic

casual, lightweight, & perfectly preppy with the embroidered detail

jack rogers wedge sandals

when you can get leg-lengthening & nantucket-inspired at the same time, you just go for it

ray ban tortoise sunglasses

cool & classy with a chic wayfarer shape

coral polka dotted sundress

feminine with ruffles and a flattering fit-&-flare silhouette, great party dress too!

mint sperry topsider loafers

comfortable & colorful, perfect for a bike ride around the lake

striped vineyard vines jacket

because sometimes we need an extra layer for boatrides and it might as well be a cute one

vineyard vines hat

a sporty staple & a very trendy summer accessory

floral shorts

undoubtedly the print of springtime, pair it with stripes or plaid to mix things up!

tassel beaded bracelet

a super versatile lakeside accessory

navy rope belt

it’s all in the details, and this braided nautical belt is just the ticket!

printed romper

for the days when we’re too lazy to get dressed

green longchamp tote

classic, timeless, & large enough to rival mary poppins carrying capacity

yellow bikini

no it doesn’t have polka dots but it is itsy bitsy teeny weeny and ridiculously adorable

straw clutch

a taste of the hamptons right here in minnesota

striped anchor tank top

did someone say stripes & anchors? I’m in.
