The Biltmore Estate

One of the highlights of my trip to North Carolina this weekend was a visit to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. At a modest 175,000 square feet, it’s the largest home in America. It was built in 1895 by George Vanderbilt. The carefully curated furniture, fabric choices, wall coverings, were positively exquisite. My favorite room featured a purple and gold color scheme with velvet damask wall paper and a white marble fireplace. I was blown away by the details, from the stately architectural features representative of the Gilded Age to the intricate curiosities collected from travels abroad.
As a Downton Abbey fan, it was a fun surprise that 60 of the original costumes from the series were on display throughout the home. They fit right into the backdrop of the Biltmore, which could easily be our own American Downton Abbey. The clothing was beautifully made, with nothing but the most luxe of fabrics and embellishments.

Tartan

When prepping outfits for NYC, I knew this Tommy Hilfiger skirt had to be worn to the Tommy show. It’s one of my favorite skirts, especially around this time of year. Tartan plaid is super classic and I freshened it up with an off-shoulder crop top. There’s always got to be a little bling somewhere. Enter Badgley Mischka heels (c/ o Zappos) and emerald necklace. The Etienne Aigner leopard and burgundy bag fit right in with the city schoolgirl vibe.

The Tommy Hilfiger show was basically mind-blowing. Immediately upon walking in, we felt like we were at a music festival. The stage was set and ready with a full-on rock band. The turf complete with floral pathways and lights completed the ambience of a free-spirited outdoor concert. And it all came together when the models came out. Each outfit could easily have been a Coachella girl hanging out in between bands. These three military-esque outfits were my favorite. I love the structure and polish of them. And it only further confirms the notion that I need a cape for the cooler months. Stat!

If ever there was Candyland for fashion people, it was the Dennis Basso show. The feminine flounce of frocks, the lush textures and elegant embroidery… all so incredibly darling and chic. The fur looks so modern and upbeat with the new cropped and cut-off silhouette. I also adore the color palette.

Metallic Brocade

The day I wore this was one of my favorites of NYFW. Actually as I write this post I’m watching someone I met there that day now talking about swim team and Hannah’s mother’s arrest on Pretty Little Liars. Shay Mitchell was even more gorgeous in person than on-screen. And super nice too. I met her at Zimmerman which is a collection that majorly blew me away. There were a couple of satin pant suits that were tailored impeccably. They looked insurmountably elegant. Even more jaw-dropping were the billowing asymetrical tops with more luxe and beautiful fabrics. I was way impressed, yet again. Here, take a look at the photos I took from my spot, just right below.
Also on this day was the Mark and Estel show. It was this cool girl vibe. Like every model that walked the runway was a rockstar’s daughter now livin it up in the city. And this show had a crazy surprise. When the final walk was about to start, instead of models walking down the catwalk, the designers came out with microphone and guitar, and performed one of their songs. Everyone in the crowd was lovin it. My favorite look was the white blouse with the black neck tie. It was really chic.
Hope your Monday goes beautifully!

Embellished Florals || Upper East Side

I wore this dress on one of my favorite days of my NYC trip. It started it out with a blow-out at Dream Dry with my roomies Tara, Kate, & Adriana. Then we met up with Chelsea for brunch at SaraBeth’s on the Upper East Side. I had what was likely the world’s most delicious Eggs Benedict. Then we headed over to the Kendra Scott showroom and admired the gorgeous new collections.

The day continued with a classic tourist move, a visit to Time Square. I don’t care how cliche it is, it’s still quite astounding to see in person.

Next we went to Fashion Palette, which was a showcase of 8 Australian designers. There was so much talent, the looks were stunning. The day finished up with Nanette Lepore‘s after party. We got to dance with the lady of the night herself. She was super sweet! And the view from the venue, the rooftop of the Dream Hotel, you guys… so breathtaking! K, I need to stop talking about my trip now it’s making me miss it too much! Might just have to hop on a plane and fly straight out there right this moment. But this time I’m bringing Patrick, Mint, and my entire shoe collection with me. Because let’s face it that’s probably all that would fit in my hypothetical NYC apartment.

Milkmaid Braids, Beaded Tulle & rewardStyle

Every girl needs a princess dress or two. With a little (or a lot) of glitter, tulle, sparkles, or beading. Save it for a birthday, a theme party, or New Year’s Eve. Or wear it on a Tuesday or a bad day or a rainy day. Or you know, “just because” is always reason enough. Which was why I wore mine in NYFW for the rewardStyle party. I paired it with a black and white striped clutch to add a graphic element, a big ol statement necklace, and some nude pumps.

The rewardStyle party took place on the rooftop of my hotel for the trip, The Empire. The place was absolutely packed with bloggers from all over who are part of the Rewardstyle fam. It’s always a bit trippy to meet in real life the people whose life & style journeys you follow along on Instagram and Twitter. One person I was delighted to make the acquaintance of was Miss Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling. She and I are pictured above in our matching blues.

I also met (and danced with… obvi.) Michelle of Pink Bubbly Shop. She was so sweet and I just loved hearing about her travels to Europe and the East Coast.
A big thanks to rewardStyle for putting together this incredible event! It’s a treat to meet the beauties behind the company, all of the bloggers, and also the representatives from some of the rewardstyle brands and designers.
