A couple weekends ago, my friends and I hit up ValleyFair. It was the first time I’d been in way too long. I could honestly ride Wild Thing and the Swing thing next to it the whole time, with a few funnel cake breaks in between 🙂 They have ValleyScare going on right now and it’s the last weekend for it, so if you haven’t been, it’s a blast. I’d totally recommend it. Ride the rollercoasters and then stick around for the haunted houses and mazes and everything. Just make sure you bring someone who doesn’t mind if you hide behind them or squeeze their hand super tight when you get scared. Cause that’s totally me, I cannot handle even the slightest freak-out calmly and rationally.
While I love breakin it down to Gangnam Style, this is what I call Gingham Style. Almost the entire outfit is from Kohl’s. I love the way these plaids are inverted, pairing the two of them together is a playful way to mix prints. I added in the inside-out fair isle to blend the two. The crisp white parka is crazy warm and will absolutely be a winter staple! In Minnesota, sometimes you just have to walk around in something of a sleeping bag. Thankfully this one is actually really cute too. Love me a faux fur-lined hood. Alright, weather… do your worst, cause obviously with this outfit, I’m ready for anything!
I’m a Madden Girl because I believe you can achieve your dreams if you work hard enough, stay focused, and score a little luck. Also because I love making the most of life by going on lots of adventures with friends and living up each moment.

This has been one of the best autumns ever! Full of warm, sunshiny days. So obviously I’ve been outside as much as possible, including this stroll at beautiful Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. I just came back from a visit there. It’s my hometown and it was great to be able to enjoy some of my favorite spots with this beautiful fall season as a backdrop. This plaid Old Navy poncho seemed fitting for a walk on the scenic and quite stately campus. I love the colors and the plaid print! I mixed things up a bit by fastening a brooch to one side. As you may guess, the poncho is also super comfortable, and the a-line shape paired perfectly with the slim-fitting burgundy pixie pants. Everything from this look except for my tote & sunglasses is from Old Navy. All these pieces are total steals. Honestly I kind of want a pair of these pants and shoes in every color…!
Life is short. So yes, in the words of Caribou coffee, let’s stay awake for it. But more than that, let’s be alive for it. Every moment, every feeling, every whim. Choose to be present within it. Sometimes we run from it. Then again, sometimes the run is the moment to be present in. But sometimes we need to stand our ground and face that same “it” head on. There is no more courage or wisdom inherent in one… running or standing… than the other. But one is usually more right than the other, depending on so many things so specific to each of us and our journeys. So I guess we take it one day at a time, and figure it out as we go, with friends and family by our side. Helping guiding us along. And following a combination of our head and hearts, we step one foot in front of the other.

There’s a time to invest and there’s a time to score a bargain. Sometimes you spend $200 on 6 things and sometimes you spend it on half a thing. Today we are talking bargains. I always love it when you find a piece that looks like it belongs next to a Tory Burch or a DVF but it actually only cost $20. All of these 10 picks are total budget-friendly steals like that. These are the trendier, wardrobe filler-outers that add interest to your outfits, to the more classic investment pieces. Personally, the first of these on my list that I’d like to swoop up is the “Current Mood” sweatshirt. Captures my general most-of-the-time vibe.
