Fall is definitely happening in Minnesota. As of yesterday. I had my first “brrrr, where are my quilted vest and camp socks” moment after walking out of the movie Scorch Trials last night. Have you seen that one yet? I really liked it. There’s something about a young dynamic leader going all Jason Bourne with his entourage and you know… saving the world that gets me all revved up. Boom. No need to accept things the way they are. Change is possible and good and let’s let our voice be heard and take action y’all. All those cliches are cliches for a reason, right?! The one thing I could do without in the movie is the zombies and ork-like nasty creatures. I mean gross! Blech. I’d really rather not ever set eyes on those. Ever.
But what I would like to keep setting my eyes and credit card on are these easy sweater dresses. When it’s 40-60 degrees, I’ll be styling them with bare legs and boots and once we dip a bit lower in temps, I’ll throw on a pair of tights or printed leggings. It’s a nice way to mix up the sweater and pants routine for the colder months.
It’s hard to believe Silhouette was already over a week ago. It was a beautiful evening and there were so many amazing hands and hearts that came together to make it happen. We enjoyed local fashion by Project Runway’s Christopher Straub, local darling Caroline Hayden, & up & coming talent Tess Ross. The evening’s proceeds went to support HopeWorks’ humanitarian efforts in Haiti. It was a treat to introduce you to the family behind the organization and share a video that captured the cause of alleviating poverty and sustaining community development in remote villages of the beautiful country.
I’d like to take a moment to thank some of our generous partners who joined in our cause and helped make Silhouette an evening to remember.
And a big thank you to all else who helped make Silhouette’s debut a success in so many other ways, by attending, sharing about, and otherwise supporting the event.

While the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and the Empire State Building have their own allure, sometimes it’s the simple daily things that can be the most iconic in NYC. Like hailing a cab. It’s just so quintessential big apple city life. I can’t even begin to tell you how many cabs we took. When you’re only there for a few days, you want to make the most of it, and cabs tend to be the quickest! Though we mixed in an occasional uber & lift of course like the good millennials we are.
With so much about what style of denim to wear and which shoes to strut for Fall, it’s all too easy to overlook one of the biggest style components… beauty! Hair & make-up trends shift just as much as clothes and accessories. Every New York, Paris, & Milan runway show has the best in the business pioneering new looks for each season. So… what’s in for Fall 2015? Let’s talk.
Low Ponies- Make them messy, make them sleek, add a twist! But whatever you do, take it low, low, low. It’s effortless chic. The Bumble & Bumble Shine on Finishing Spray will add just a touch of polish to this fun new ‘do.
Warm Peach & Rose Cheeks- Think soft, feminine, and flirty. From Jason Wu to Balmain, the look was clearly a favorite this season. We can change up the heavy contouring for a more natural, breezy look. Bobbi Brown’s Calypso Cheek Palette offers some gorgeous tones to mix things up.
Twiggy-style Lashes- The lashes were anything but subtle this season. Vamp up your eye game with a dramatic, thick & long falsie. Count on Georgie faux lashes, No.3 La Starlette for a glamorous gaze.
Glowing Skin- It’s all about the dewy skin this season. Add this NARS Illuminator on cheekbones and upper forehead to enhance the skin and add a touch of shimmer.
Prominent Brows- Cara Delevigne and Lily Collins showed us that the dark brow is not to be feared and now the trend is chic-er than ever. Use HourGlass Brow Sculpting pencil and brush to achieve a smoldering brow.
Also, who’s heading over to The Posh Mommy Grand opening today? I visited yesterday to do a little pre-shopping and let’s just say I found a few treasures. Ahem, ahem… Kate Spade, DVF, & BCBG. They have designer pieces for less and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Epilepsy Foundation. I love it! Stop by the boutique at 7800 Metro Parkway Suite 104 in Bloomington from 10a-5p. Hope to see you there! 🙂
When life gets crazy, it’s nice to have those routines in place that make you feel unapologetically feminine. No matter what kind of gritty #girlboss stuff the day calls for as we’re taking over our own little corners of the world, we can feel sweet and flirty too. For me this means splurging on shampoo and conditioner by a high-end French brand from my salon. I love how it makes my hair feel super smooth and healthy afterwards. Totally worth it! I also paint my nails, like a lot. I change out the color to match my mood, the season, my outfit… whatever! And use a quality topcoat to give my manicure a really nice glossy finish. I’ve also been using the Caress Daily Silk body wash and bar soap in my daily routine. My skin actually feels a lot more moisturized from it, like silky soft, and super fresh and clean of course. The bonus is that every once in a while I’ll get a little waft of the peach and orange blossom fragrance throughout the day. Maj mood boost. Last tip for feeling really pampered every day, a really good mascara. And lots of layers it; the more the merrier. It just gives a whole lot of va-va-voom to your look. And hey, who doesn’t love a little va-va-voom!
