For Memorial Day, Patrick and I did a little venturing out into one of our favorite cities nearby. We tried a new restaurant, Dock Cafe, on the Mississippi River. It’s practically illegal to go through Stillwater without hitting up Nelson’s for ice cream so of course we did that also. And then we played a round of golf at Stillwater Oaks. At 70 degrees & sunny, it was a lovely day. One of those days we remember why we we’re glad we live here.
I’m going to go ahead and tell you about one of my favorite pasta dishes in town. The Mizithra with browned butter at Old Spaghetti Factory. Every once in a while, I have to get it. It just has to be done. So when my family was in town and we ended up at the place, oh it just about made my week. And it was a really good week, so topping everything else was no easy feat. Finding these soft pants was definitely in the runnings too. Currently on sale for like $40. I know… craziness.
This beautiful beautiful land is in Chaska, Minnesota. My aunt and uncle live here and have this gorgeous flowing creek and white wooden bridge as their backyard. I grew up on this land. My family would come and visit often and we’d play with the cousins over the hill and deeper into the woods. One of my cousins and I actually built a fort on top of the hill with wood and sticks, eeyore-style, that lasted almost a decade, through storms, wind, tornados… I don’t know, maybe we should have been engineers? 🙂 So when I went back here for a wedding, you can bet I was struck by nostalgia. I love this dreamy place and every chance to just soak up the beauty of it.
Over the weekend, I went in to Evolution Hair in Minneapolis for a hair conditioning treatment and a styled look for an event I had later in the day. I showed my stylist, Heidi, a picture of a Blake Lively messy braidy side-do. She took it as inspiration and improvised to create this super fun hair look that I had a blast sporting all day. I had an incredible experience and will definitely be back for more treatments and styled updo’s!
This pretty magenta dress was kind of a no-brainer. I found it at Lou & Louise Fashion, a boutique based in South Dakota with lots of really cute items. What I like about it is first and foremost the gorgeous color. Secondly, I like that I could wear it for a day at the pool or work. I’m currently wearing it today for the office, styled with this structured leopard coat and dressy sandals. But I could see it with a turquoise statement necklace and a woven beach bag just as easily. Versatile is the name of the game.
Style tip for the day? Don’t be afraid to match and mismatch in the same outfit. The tweed & leopard contrast patterns while the dress, bracelet, & headband coordinate. Play around with patterns/colors to make it your very own look.
This weekend on Saturday the 16th from 2-4pm I’ll be hosting the Fashion Icons event at Macy’s Ridgedale. It will be such a blast! Complete with small bites, lots of spring shopping, live music (maybe you’ll even see me bust out a move haha) and of COURSE a photo opp. I’d love to chat with you about the style trends for the season so come on out and let’s hang!

One of my favorite trends of the moment is the off-shoulder look. I’ve styled it herefor a formal evening look & here for a colorful daytime outfit. It’s feminine, flattering, and fresh! And there are oh-so-many ways to try it. I’ve selected some of my top choices from around the web to give you a starting point for shopping.
