Tropical Lime

There always seems to be a handful of movies that you could watch anytime. When someone says, “What movie should we watch?”, this is your shortlist. For me, that is Pride & Prejudice (part 2 episode 1), Downton Abbey (kind of any episode, as long as it involves the Dowager Countess being sassy), Emma, My Fair Lady, and Father of the Bride 2. My personal classics. So there’s a random little tidbit.
Also. Wore this little lilly dress to a fun brunch at WA Frost last weekend with Bess, Chelsea, & Josie. It was National Wear your Lilly Day. So obvi…

What to Pack: European Travels

Someday I will be moving to London. My heart is totally already there. And the very first thing I would do upon arrival is spend a day shopping Harrods. Lucky for me, I can get a little taste of what that might be like at their online store. I spent the most glorious afternoon perusing viral racks of beautiful designer clothing. My absolute favorite is the gorgeous Alexander Mcqueen jacquard shift dress. I could see myself art-gazing in it at the Louvre. The butterfly coat would be marvelous for lunching in Florence. And the powder blue jacket? Complete perfection for a tour of Buckingham palace (with hopes to catch a view of the queen of course). Basically, my afternoon of shopping Harrod’s website turned into curating my European Travel packing wishlist. Now if someone could just pass this along to my fairy godmother thank you.

Dinner Date in Vineyard Vines

And right when I got outside to have these photos taken… downpour. Hence the retreat to the porch. There’s actually been a lot of rain in my life lately. And since I’ve committed to having the most adventurous summer ever, I’m not letting a little precipitation get in my way! So Patrick and I explored Gooseberry Falls and a lighthouse anyway. It was great. I’d been there before but it still just totally blows my mind that we have like a full-fledged waterfall and mega-Irish-style cliffs right here in Minnesota. I’ll never stop being a tourist as long as I live, even in my own state.

Olcott House || Pink Jacquard

Patrick and I spent the weekend in Duluth, a few hours north of Minneapolis. We stayed at the Olcott House, which was charming on every level. The first impression of the mansion is remarkably grand and the inside matches its stateliness in all ways. Apparently Rockefeller stayed in the place when he came to town. It was our first bed & breakfast experience and I must say, it certainly will not be the last.

Strolling in Stillwater

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I just want to take a quick sec to thank you for reading along with Ruby Girl. It’s an honor to have you come visit!

So this weekend, I went to Stillwater with Patrick and my sister-in-law, who also happens to be one of my best friends and who also happens to be living in Minneapolis with us for much of the summer. I’m sure not complaining! I totally treasure these times in life when you get to adventure alongside friends. The future is unpredictable, and we never know who is going to live where and when and if our presents will collide again, so when they do I’ve learned enough to know to appreciate those days and weeks and months. And to make the most of them.

It was fun lolligagging around Stillwater. It’s got the most adorable of downtowns. We lunched at The Lowell Inn, popped in to some antique stores, Mara Mi paper store, strolled along the river, and of course, grabbed Nelson’s Ice Cream on our way out of town. The kiddie sized cone is about 4 times the size of most other ice cream joints’ large. Again… not complaining.
