Colorful at the Capitol

Living in a city is one thing, but being a tourist in your own town is a whole different thing. It was so great to step inside the Minnesota State Capitol again. It’s been a few years, and that’s such a shame, because it’s truly an inspiring place. I’ve always been a bit of a student of history, and places with so many years under their belts always strike me in a really profound way. No matter what your standpoint, this is a place that represents how each of our voices can be heard and that we can make change can happen, and that, my friends, is an incredible thing.

Brunch is Best

There are a lot of really great things about brunch. For one, it’s eaten later in the day, which usually means there was a lazy morning involved. For two, it would be perfectly normal at this very special kind of meal to have both pancakes and a slice of rib-eye on your plate at the very same time. Though I wouldn’t recommend it. There can be syrup trickle issues, you know. But still, I like that if I wanted to, I could have pancakes and ribeye at the same sitting. So thank you, brunch inventor, you’ve revolutionized my Saturdays at 11:00 am. By the way, this brunch in particular at The Lowell Inn? It’s a definite win.

This is something of a little photo diary of our trip to The Lowell Inn a few weekends ago. We were so charmed by the place that we are already scheming up another weekend there soon!

The Girliest Shoot Ever

Welcome to the girliest shoot ever. I mean. Let’s just talk about everything that’s going on here. Pink, tulle, gold hearts, confetti, pearls, crystal, bows, balloons, and red lips. Pretty sure the gang’s all here and I love love love every inch of it. This shoot was totally up my alley and it was all brought about by the genius of my friend and incredibly talented photographer bud, Jaimee Morse

I love how this shoot captures the zest of life. No every day does not involve actual confetti and pink balloons, but we can bring it in a way… By believing that every day is a celebration and every interaction an opportunity to grow, and that laughing should take place as often as possible, we can bring a party to our every day.

Valentine’s Day Red

The day is upon us! The one where we celebrate love in its wide variety of manifestations, from day-old crush to decades-old devotion. Appreciating friends, family, lovers and everyone in between. I think it’s great to have a day like this because as the old ballad goes, “what the world needs now is love, sweet love”! Patrick and I celebrated last weekend thinking we would be busy the night of, but have become unexpectedly free this evening. Which would make it the first Valentine’s Day since marriage that we can celebrate together day-of. Patrick is a CPA and February 14 fell right on his busiest season so we moved it to a weekend night or something every year. The sentimentalist in me is delighted to get to enjoy the actual day with him. There’s something about everyone celebrating on the same day that gets a little buzz in the air. So whatever your day may look like this evening, may you feel loved and adored. I’d love to leave you with this, one of my favorite Bible verses, because there’s One whose love for each and every one of us individually is forever unparalleled and completely unconditional.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, the Mighty Warrior who saves; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with singing” Zephaniah 3:17
