Splurge, Save, Steal :: Winter Coats

It’s that time again… The light jackets aren’t quite cuttin it in some happy parts of the world. Ergo, I have handily prepared for you a winter coat shopping guide. Maybe you are a splurge kinda gal, hoping to get a coat that is in for the long-haul. Maybe you are saver, and are looking for something that will fit your budget and look similar to a more expensive piece. Maybe you are an ultra bargain-hunter and refuse to pay more than $100 for a winter coat. Well… all of you can be at home here with this shopping guide, cause I have scoured the online fashion shopping scene for coats in all price ranges in both the freshest & most classic styles. Enjoy!

Fuchsia

It’s my birthday….! I am one blessed cookie. When days like this come around, it really sinks in. I’m so grateful for life. Call me cheeseball to the nth degree, but I just love life. So much beauty, everywhere. In the witty comments Patrick makes about anything and everything. In the laughs with friends on weekends, over the ridiculous names we have come up with for our future pup. In the rainy days when I look out past my windshield into the sky and think, goodness how cool that this happens, that God came up with this way to nourish the ground. In times when I witness moments of generosity that were not meant to be witnessed. I’m blessed to have another day, another year under my belt of life. Carpe Diem, peeps!

Costume Inspiration

Downton Dame     Sailorette
Katniss-Hunger Games     Goldilocks

Halloween. A breeze for the creatives and a stressfest for the left-brain thinkers. Like it or not, the costume parties come. I happen to like it. But spending a wad on a costume is against all my bargain-hunter instincts. So the above costumes shall serve as inspiration, from which I shall dig through my personal closet and thrift stores to find something similar.

I can’t claim to have had the best costumes out there. Here’s proof. But this year, I’m determined to find a way to merge fashion and costumes. As much as I’d love to go another year as salt & pepper with the hubby, I think I’d rather rock one of these little get-up’s. Which one is your favorite?

Burgundy

Burgundy, wine, oxblood, maroon … it’s a color of many identities. Call it what we will, this reddish purple hybrid is the color of the season! I myself have had a new relationship with the hue. A burgundy rebirth if you will. So naturally, when I saw a pair of cords in this great shade at LOFT, I couldn’t wait to get in ’em! I popped in more color with the red lace top and kept the look classic modern with the leather-sleeved trench.
