Cobalt + Scallops

Cobalt and neon has always been one of my favorite color combinations. I usually style it in a more edgy urban style, but this time I softened it up with a scalloped skirt. And I like to add in some print when I can, especially leopard. A thin belt is the perfect way to add in a slice without going over the top.

Sheer Thing

[[ photos by melissa oholendt ]]

Ahhh you guys I am ridiculously pumped for Fashion Weeks to start going down. I’ll be following NYFW from afar (thanks to Elle Magazine… seriously, if you are wanting to follow new collections at all, this site is legit for runway material), but Minneapolis-St. Paul has a fashion week of its own and I am excited to attend some shows again. We have some crazy talented designers right here in the Mini-apple and it’s always fun to see what they put out. Just someone please remind me not to wear stilettos with a crappy arch to these events. Not worth it.

Sequin Collar

Ok, sequined collars are the best thing since sliced bread. Right? I mean I love necklaces, but I do enjoy having one build right into my shirt! Hello. Jolie Moi was on the money with this one. And I don’t do a whole heckuva lot of black in my outfit repertoire, but when I do it’s gotta have something special going on, like this rosette-textured skirt, via Karen Kane.

This summer I’ve realized how very blessed I am in relationships. I’ve got this incredible family, that just goes on and on (and on… time 423951). My beast of a family tree made everyone else’s look like Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree in third grade. But what blows my mind is just the kindness, uplifting-ness, and fun factor that is common throughout. And all this without even touching on how very blessed I am by the friendships we have made through the years. Dang, life is good!

Shine is happening. And I’m all over it! Metallics are a fun way to add some urban chic to your everyday. Slip it in once for a subtle hint of edge or go over the top and match multiple outfit pieces. I don’t really shy away from a bit of drama, so I loaded up. Gold studded loafers and purse plus the gold skirt! Just call me Midas.
