Last Wednesday, I came home from work, ready to start packing for our Christmas trips. But, I got a little sidetracked. I received a fun little package in the mail from Stitch Fix. 3 dresses, 1 jacket, and 1 set of earrings. All boutique brands. Most were totally on par with my style. And I didn’t pick out a single thing myself.
The lovely stylists at Stitch Fix hand-picked 5 items based on the results of my personal style survey and sent them off to my place. I got to try them on in front of my own mirror and with my wardrobe available to style each piece how I’d actually wear it. Then I sent back what I decided not to keep in a pre-addressed, prepaid-postage bag. Very grateful to Stitch Fix for the opportunity to try it out and hang onto this lovely zigzag sweater dress!
If you are looking for a way to shop without having to spend loads of time surfing the net or standing in lines at malls, Stitch Fix is the way to go. And it was seriously so nice to be able to try the fab pieces on in my own closet. I’m a forgetful little lass and have been known to fall in love with a dress and then get home only to see that I have 5 just like it. Stink. Or I might rule out an edgy top because I think I won’t have any way to wear it. These issues are completely nullified when you get to try the stuff on right there with the rest of your wardrobe.

Summer to Winter

pleated poppy

dress: promgirl, lace booties: maurices, crochet sweater: charlotte russe, clutch: rewind vintage
This dress was sent to me courtesy of PromGirl. I wore it at our 3rd Annual Christmas Party. I love the tulle skirt of the dress, with the whimsical gold polka dots on the organza overlay. It felt marvelously girly and romantic. Just my style. Promgirl sells cocktail dresses, prom dresses, and every other kind of dress you can possibly imagine. Lots of great eye candy. So many unique, glamorous pieces. Man I wish I knew about sites like this when I was in high school. Glad I do now for other fancy shmancy occasions!

Just because the winter season is sinking in doesn’t mean we have to say goodbye altogether to our warm weather clothes. Don’t let your summer clothes go to waste this winter! Keep them in circulation using 3 easy peasy techniques.
Exhibit A: Lovely little summer dress. Wholly impractical for 30-45 degree weather as it stands currently.

Now let’s take this little baby up a few degrees!

Holiday dressing is actually one of my favorite things. I’ve got three outfits for you later in this post as inspiration for soiree-hopping.
I took a bit of a risk and wore these rust-toned bell-bottom jeans the other day. Not my usual gig but I had fun mixing things up!

top: thrifted (pure energy), bell bottoms: marshall’s (fire los angeles), oxford heels: thrifted (ann marino), bag: thrifted
The Christmas season is in full gear and with it, party after party. No complaints here.
Holiday looks are all about glitz and glam. Be bold this season! Don’t be afraid to be the best-dressed. Isn’t that the silliest little concern? Over-dressing? Pshaww… no such thing. Eye-catching winter color palettes tend to be dominated by black, gold, red, and cream.
A few lovely little ensembles for you to draw inspiration from as you’re putting together your party looks. Each outfit features a faux fur jacket, a stunning dress, and statement shoes & accessories.
Which one would you be most likely to wear?
