Wouldn’t it be great if all of our life moments could be “retweet”able & “favorite”able? And we could have a catalogue of them, accessible with the click of a mouse? Some might say that we do have that, it’s called our memory. True. But then there’s people like me, with the unfortunate pairing of a fickle little memory and an urge categorize, organize, and document.
For the sake of graduating from my MSW grad program, today is going to have to be one of those rude-awakening, quick!-switch-into-high-gear, please-let-me-go-back-to-bed kind of days. Here is the verse that will virtually be on constant replay in my head today:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 [NIV]

It was a lovely Vision Trip. I hope the weather catches our vision and pulls through!! I did find myself a patch of green grass. Woo! There is hope 🙂
Have a beautiful Sunday.

Our refrigerator is in a bit of a sad pathetic state. The funny thing is, neither Patrick or I have really been pushing for a trip to the grocery store. And I think I know why… there is like this unspoken challenge to see how long we can go without shopping and how empty our fridge can get before we can’t make a single meal besides refried beans and tomato soup. It’s inspired me to make some tasty sauces combining the things we do have left. But… we’ll see how much longer this can go. I mean, come on. Look at that.
Now for an unrelated bleep bragging about my hubby. Yesterday we went to the gym together and I watched him play a pick-up basketball game. It is SO MUCH FUN watching him dominate out there. He’s 5’9 and not incredibly bulky, so people tend to underestimate him. It’s a hoot to see their reactions and the immediate r-e-s-p-e-c-t when he pops a few moves and does a few shimmy-shakes on his way to throwin down a sweet lay-up. This all makes it extremely difficult to peel myself away to do my own workout.
Oh yea, and… Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! Go eat some corned beef and cabbage and give some love to an Irishman/woman (like ME! 40% counts, right?)

My R&R trip to FL with the fam is coming to an end. Sad to leave this sunny state, but very happy to return to my amazing husband and friends back in Minneapolis. Tomorrow we get in the minivan for the 24-hour trip home. But, before I leave this post, I think it’s time I make a special statement:
This is to the grandma that was sitting at the beach today. I’m really bad at frisbee. I’m sorry that you had to bear the brunt end of my poor skills. I hope your face feels better soon!! I’ll work on my aim.

Patrick and I LOVE active dates. We got really into tennis last summer. We love to explore the cities for little pockets of nature to hike. Sometimes we find a basketball court to shoot hoops. And don’t even get me started on volleyball, that’s my fave. Racquetball is another sport that’s a hoot. We are all about organized sport outings with friends: kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, football. The only run we have gone on together that I can mentally count as a date is the one that involved a smoothie from jamba juice at the halfway point. But that was fun 🙂
Both Patrick and I can get highly competitive. The problem for me is, Patrick’s skill set tends to outweigh mine in basically every one of the above active activities. And the second problem for me is, Patrick has had experience dealing with his competitive nature in sports encounters, while I have had no such thing. You already know I have a dramatic stripe. I’m basically a nutcase out there getting really really into whatever sport we are doing, talking smack, the whole deal, getting frustrated, and always coming up short. And I don’t know, but I get the sense that that’s why he likes going with me so much. I put up enough of an effort for it to still be a game, and my competitive outbursts provide entertainment on the side. We are getting deeper into March which means there will be a resurgence of active dates again soon. PLUS we just upgraded our fitness membership to one where there are pools and courts of all kinds. I can’t wait to hit them up with my love.
